Raised in Washington State in the small towns of Montesano and Bothell, Joe spent an unhealthy amount of time making genre spoofs with an old camcorder. In 9th grade, on a whim, he enrolled in a television production class where he directed and performed in videos for the entire school. The extraordinary feeling of an audience enjoying his work led him to earn a degree in Cinema-Television Production from the University of Southern California. Upon graduation, he played his first lead role in the theatrically released feature film, FAQ’s. Joe won rave reviews for his performance, which was described as “the most appealing and touching debut lead performance in recent memory” (Tom Steele, Out.com). Taking the lessons learned from the guerilla-style filmmaking in FAQ’s, Joe co-wrote, edited, and starred in Shamelove, an award-winning feature film that has been hailed as “a gem” by critics “with great acting” (Felix Vasquez Jr., Cinema-Crazed). Joe next played the lead in thriller, The Shadows, which premiered at Outfest 2007. Joe was inspired to direct his first feature film, Sweet Thing, in his home of Seattle, Washington. The movie tells the story of two girls who become closer than they expected during a single summer in Seattle. It is the tale of a dramatic love triangle, a drug addiction, and a sweet coming of age narrative. Joe is currently a producer on the hit television show, Survivor and has worked on the top ten show for the past 4 years.
